Poetry Group Facilitator

The volunteer will create a welcoming and nurturing environment where carers are encouraged to reflect on poetry and any emotions it may evoke (remote volunteering).
You will strive to make the group popular and fun for those in attendance whilst preparing some poetry in advance on a variety of different themes for each weekly session, such as love, different cultures, music, religion and worldwide events.
As part of our vision to support carers wellbeing at Carers Network, we have launched a poetry admiration group as a tool to bring carers together to discuss and celebrate poetry. This is not a creative writing group, but an opportunity to discuss poetry that has already been published.
This group is aimed at everyone regardless of their poetry knowledge. The volunteer will create a welcoming and nurturing environment where carers are encouraged to reflect on poetry and any emotions it may evoke.
You will strive to make the group popular and fun for those in attendance whilst preparing some poetry in advance on a variety of different themes for each weekly session, such as love, different cultures, music, religion and worldwide events.
The role:
>To stimulate communication on pieces of poetry that you and carers will share amongst each other
To create a friendly and relaxing environment where each carer has a chance to contribute to a weekly agreed session for a minimum of six months- this will involve some planning in advance of each session.
>At the beginning of each session provide a brief recap on a piece of poetry from the previous session for any new attendees
>Encourage carers to contribute a piece of poetry for each week Encourage carers to consider their reflections and thoughts on poetry
>Liaise closely with the Volunteer Development Officer on reflections of the group and attendance levels
>To ensure the group finishes at a set time by wrapping up a debate
