From Monday 19 to Saturday 24 May, organisations across Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster are coming together to mark Dementia Action Week: a national campaign that encourages greater awareness, earlier diagnosis, and more inclusive communities for people affected by dementia.
At Volunteer Centre Kensington & Chelsea, we’re proud to support Dementia Action Week and stand alongside our partners in raising awareness, promoting inclusion, and recognising the importance of community support for those affected by dementia.
A Week of Free, Inclusive Events
This year’s programme is packed with thoughtful, engaging activities designed to welcome everyone, whether you’re living with dementia, supporting someone who is, or simply want to learn more. Highlights include:
- Melodies & Memories at Opera Holland Park (Tuesday 20 May)
- Chair-based yoga and nutrition workshops with Imperial College London
- Museum and gallery tours at the V&A, National Army Museum, Westminster Abbey, and The King’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace
- The Dementia Information Fair at Kensington Town Hall (Friday 23 May, 1:30–4:30pm), featuring 25+ local organisations, expert talks, health checks, and legal advice
All events are free, small-group, and dementia-friendly.
You can explore the full programme here, or book by contacting the organisers at email hidden; JavaScript is required or calling 020 3701 2862.
Why This Matters
Dementia Action Week is a reminder of the power of community – to listen, to learn, and to support. Whether through creativity, conversation, or care, each small act of inclusion helps build a more compassionate borough.
