Coming Up: English Conversations and Creative Writing

Our Wellbeing facilitator, Stan, shares a seasonal update on upcoming ‘English Conversations’ and ‘Creative Writing’ workshops:

As we move toward mid-winter and the Winter Solstice, we will be exploring aspects of the season and reflecting upon change in our lives.

In English Conversations, we will be looking at music, songs, and poetry that have reflected the world we live in, which help us make sense of things.
We will look at small talk, what it is, how it helps us to meet and talk to others, particularly people whom we are meeting for the first time.
We will also be talking about gifts and giving. Why do we give presents to others? What does it feel like to receive gifts? What are the cultural differences in giving and receiving gifts?

In Creative Writing, we will explore our experiences of changing seasons, of nature, and city life. How do we express ourselves when talking about change and the world around us?
We will be looking at how music can change mood and have an impact on our emotions. How does purely instrumental music affect us? Do we listen to song lyrics? What impact do they have? We will be writing heavily under the influence of music.

These workshops are for our Wellbeing clients, designed to be friendly, welcoming spaces for all levels.
