Championing Inclusive Volunteering: Even in Challenging Times

At the Volunteer Centre, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to contribute, connect, and thrive through volunteering. We also believe this should be true regardless of background, health, or life circumstances. That includes disabled people, those living with long-term health conditions, and people with criminal records, all of whom we support through our Specialist Services team.

Like many in the charity sector, we’re feeling the effects of reduced funding across the sector. This has meant changes to how we deliver some of our work, including the loss of two valued colleagues within our Specialist Services team. While this inevitably affects our capacity, it doesn’t change our commitment.

We know that volunteering can be a lifeline. It offers better health, stronger social connections, a sense of purpose, and greater independence. That’s why we’ll continue working creatively and collaboratively to keep volunteering accessible and supportive for those who need it most.

We’re still here. We’re still listening. And we’ll keep doing all we can to build a borough where everyone can take part.
