Join Our ‘Celebrating Volunteering’ Competition 2024

Date of Volunteer’s Week: 3-9 June 2024

We are getting ready for Volunteers’ Week this June, which marks its 40th anniversary this year! As always, this is a fantastic opportunity to recognise and thank volunteers and the valuable contributions they make to our community and the world at large.

For this year’s anniversary celebration, we wanted to do something special to show our appreciation for volunteers. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that we are hosting an exciting competition called “Celebrating Volunteering” – and you are invited!

To participate and help us say thanks to volunteers, we are looking for photos that capture the spirit of volunteering over the past year. This could be anything from a photo of you volunteering, the place where you volunteer, or something that reminds you of your volunteering experience! With it, include a little paragraph that explains what is happening in the photo and the difference it made in your life or in the life of others.

The winner of the competition will be announced on our website and social media during Volunteers’ Week in June and win a £50 gift card!

We look forward to seeing how you capture the spirit of volunteering!

All you need to do to join the competition is to send us a photo and a little paragraph that explains what is happening in the photo and the difference it made in your life or in the life of others. Here, we are not looking for the most perfect  photo, but for photos and stories that capture the spirit of volunteering and what it means to you.

You can make an entry as an individual volunteer, as a volunteer-involving organisation or as a person who has benefited from the help of volunteers.

  • Prize for best photo / story: £50 gift card from One4All
  • Closing date for submissions: 9am Monday 27th May 2024
  • Winner announced: During Volunteers’ Week (3-9 June 2024)

How to submit your entry for the competition:

  • Please submit a photo that captures your experience of volunteering over the past year and include a paragraph that explains what is happening in the photo and the difference it made in your life or in the life of others.
  • You can also upload your entry on social media and tag us with the hashtag #VCKCLetsCelebrate. Posts on social media do not count as a submission in the competition, but do help to spread the word and say thanks to volunteers!
  • Closing date for entries: 9am Monday 27th May 2024
  • The winner will be announced: During Volunteers’ Week (3-9 June 2024)
  • To complete your entry in the competition, you need to sign the consent form found here: VCKC consent form
  • Although there will only be one winner, any photos submitted may be used to celebrate Volunteer’s Week and say thanks to the valuable contributions of volunteers! By submitting your entry you are agreeing for it to be used in social media, on our website and potentially to be shared more widely so please ensure you have any necessary permissions. You can learn more about this in our consent form here: VCKC consent form
  • If your submitted story and/or image contain the personal information of other people (such as someone’s name being used in a story or other people’s faces being shown in an image), you need to have consent from them before submitting your entry to the competition as per our consent form
