Nathan has been volunteering regularly for the last 10 years and is part of the Volunteer Centre’s Wellbeing programme. His most recent placement was with Westway Gardens, where he had been volunteering daily prior to Lockdown.
His role was to help with general gardening tasks and using his own carpentry skills to improve areas of the community gardens.
I have gained so much from volunteering, one of the major things it has done is help me move from being a hermit to being out of the house all day. I mostly stayed indoors but now I get out and enjoy being involved in the community and I have met lots of like-minded people. It has only been a positive experience for me, and I really believe other people will have the same experience.
VCKC Wellbeing supports people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and mental health needs to find volunteering opportunities within Kensington & Chelsea.
