When Ahmed first came to Wellbeing at VCKC, he was struggling with depression and isolation after having to give up his job as a security guard due to a health condition. He started attending community volunteering taster days and to volunteer regularly. During lockdown, he has become a Telephone Befriender volunteer and has been helped to access Zoom workshops and social activities.
He said:
I feel isolated and alone before I came here. I feel useless. If you live alone, you never talk to anyone for nearly one month – so it’s difficult. My room is like prison. I sat there sometimes and cried. Then I come to Wellbeing at VCKC and I feel more hopeful about the future and I feel happy. It’s like a new dawn of life.
