Operation Cup of Tea

Do you remember Operation Cup of Tea - Portobello and Golborne Road Market’s response to the London Riots in 2011?

In just one day, volunteers, local charities and community groups served over 1000 cups of tea to local residents and visitors whilst providing a positive space for people to drop by and for the community to come together.

Following the Grenfell Tower Fire, local community organisations are re-creating Operation Cup of Tea with a regular stall at Portobello Market and provide a friendly face, local information and a heart-warming cuppa to anyone who’d like it.

There will be different local organisations managing the stall each week providing local residents the opportunity to drop by, enjoy a free cup of tea and act as an informal space for people to talk. Information regarding local services and summer activities for families will also be on hand for organisations to distribute on the day.

The stall will run every Friday from 11am – 3pm on the square by Tavistock road, between Portobello Rd & Basing Street and will run initially for 8 weeks from 14th July - 1st September 2017, but it could potentially be ongoing, depending on demand and uptake from the community.

We look forward to seeing you there!
