Harrods Volunteers & The Latymer Community Church

The Latymer Community Church is a small, friendly church firmly rooted in North Kensington.

The church hall is used six days a week to provide a home for local organisations to run group activities to bring the community together. With such constant use of the hall, it was in desperate need of a fresh lick of paint which the Centre hadn’t been able to do themselves due to the lack of resources...

Our Business & Community Together programme run in partnership with The Kensington & Chelsea Foundation placed a team of four from the menswear department in Harrods who wanted a practical team building activity whilst having the opportunity to give something back to the local community.

The volunteers started their day with an introduction to the charity and a briefing by John, the Caretaker. His aim was for the whole ceiling to be painted, as it "would be impossible for one man to do on his own."

The volunteers exceeded his expectations, by painting the whole ceiling as well as the rest of the church hall!

The Centre was overwhelmed with what the volunteers had achieved in such a short space of time and the room was back to full use just a day later for the Ethiopian Women’s Empowerment group.
